Deckhand/Staff Wanted for Children's Fishing Program

Children's fishing program on Cape Cod is seeking a deckhand for summer 2021. Applicants must be age 21+. Previous experience working with kids preferred. A marine science background or outdoor education background also preferred. This summer job is as demanding as it is fun. The position requires long days in the sun (on the water) and a constant state of hypervigilance for child safety. Candidate should engage well with children and be able to hold the interest and attention of kids for extended periods of time when not fishing. Must be able to add an educational element to our program and engage kids (ages 8-15) with games and educational activities. Fishing experience is a plus, but not required if you wish to learn. Be willing to work hard, get your hands dirty, and enjoy working with kids. Must have positive energy and a good sense of humor. Be comfortable on the water and reliable and dependable. Job tasks include baiting fishing hooks, helping kids with basic fishing skills, baiting more hooks, teaching kids about the marine environment, interacting professionally with parents and ensuring that children are conducting themselves in a safe manner at all times. In addition to a pay rate of $16/hour, this job offers a rewarding summer experience and opportunity to work outdoors, on the water, doing some very cool stuff. Work period is from June 28th through August 27th. Our program operates from Monday through Thursday of each week, with Friday as a rain day. One full-time person & one part-time person needed.
