Description

Are you age 65-85? Are you concerned about your walking and balance? Researchers at the Marcus Institute for Aging Research, at Hebrew SeniorLife and Harvard Medical School, in Roslindale, MA are seeking volunteers to participate in an 8-week study, funded by the National Institute on Aging. What are we studying? The purpose of the study is to determine if non-invasive brain stimulation, called transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), improves balance and walking in older adults. tDCS is a non-invasive, safe technology that sends very small electrical currents to your brain through your scalp. These small currents may help improve walking, thinking, balance, and brain function. Who can participate? If you are age 65-85, and have mobility, balance or walking concerns, you may be eligible to participate. What is involved? Participation involves up to 6 visits including: • Eligibility screening visit consisting of health interviews and assessments of walking, balance and memory • One optional MRI scan • Four 20-minute session of non-invasive brain stimulation with assessments of walking and balance before and after the session Participation is paid up to $300. Parking and transportation can be provided. Please contact Nicole LaGanke for more information at or .
