Celebrate Mass at the Cathedral — Advanced Reservations Required The Cathedral of the Holy Cross has reopened with restrictions and precautions in place to protect the safety of all of God's people. Advanced reservations via this Eventbrite page are required to attend Mass in order to comply with government regulations. This event is for the Mass in English on the Solemnity of Saint Patrick, Patron of the Archdiocese of Boston, celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Sean Patrick O'Malley at Noon on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. There will be the traditional Blessing of Shamrocks, which will be available after Mass. There will be no reception after Mass this year to comply with pandemic precautions. In order to attend, please help us stay open for all by observing these precautions: Who should attend or stay home: If you have symptoms of being sick, have COVID-19, have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, if you recently traveled out-of-state, or if you are a member of a vulnerable population, we ask that you please stay home. You may still attend Mass with us virtually—we will continue to air and stream Sunday Masses in multiple ways. See our Mass Times page for details. Face Masks Required: Masks that cover the mouth and nose will be required to be worn by all, except for brief removal for the reception of Holy Communion. Please bring your mask; we do not have supplies to provide them.Social Distancing: We will block off seating in ways to ensure that you are seated more than 6 feet from people who are not in your household. All aisles will be one way only. Entrance can only be made from the main Washington Street doors. The north and south transept doors will be exit only. Liturgical Changes: Per archdiocesan directives, there will be no congregational singing or worship aids. Sacred music will be performed from the choir loft. There will be no exchange of the sign of peace. Holy water fonts will be dry.Holy Communion: Specific guidelines will be given at Mass for those who wish to receive Holy Communion. Hand sanitizing stations will be available just prior to receiving. The priest will use gloves and a mask through a glass barrier. Lines will be spaced apart.
