Description

Looking for session work, work with original bands or "loose" cover/blues bands and players (bass, drums, keys, guitarists) who just want to jam. Wide range of influences from the 60's onward - Focus is on psychedelic atmospheric melodic blues-based and modal improvisational lead playing but play rhythm/background textures, also. Influences would include the usual Hendrix/Santana/Jeff Beck/Dave Gilmore/Jimmy Page/Zappa/Iommi/Allmans and all the other great guitarists of the late 60's/Early 70's but also later 70's jazz/rock/funk fusion and prog, early 80's New Wave Chime (the Police, early U2, the Cult, etc.), later 80's metal (I was living in L.A., couldn't avoid it!), 90's grunge, early 2000's "heavy but not metal"(Tool, Perfect Circle, Deftones) and recently just listening to anything that sounds good, even dig some alternative. I'm also a pretty good straight up blues player, but more of a modern "Brit-blues", Allman Bros., Clapton, SRV guy than a traditional Chicago old school dude. As much as I like playing loud, I also have a softer side and work with singer/songwriters, adding fills, textures, short leads, "playing for the song" as they say. I have a wide range of equipment - guitar collection, including a couple of odd things, like an electric/acoustic nylon string and this crazy Vox guitar I just bought with synth sounds, a sitar, various acoustics, 12 strings and both single coil and humbucker electric sounds, pretty amazing!!, I also have amps of various sizes. Generally use a "wet" produced sound with reverb, a little delay, a bit of chorus whether playing loud or soft. Also have a Tech 21 Fly Rig which is great for recording directly into an interface without having to mic an amp, sounds much better than plug-ins. My band is on hiatus, it's called As Seen From Space, I'm also the composer. You can hear what I play like on our Facebook page with videos of our livestream at the Midway Cafe, also on Youtube. We also have songs posted on www.asfs.bandcamp.com. I have a practice studio in Norwood with drums, PA, bass amps as well as guitar amps. I'm 420 friendly, light on alcohol, no other "bad habits", transportation, sense of humor. Will consider cover bands, particularly blues bands, but only if they're not "exact" copy bands, but bands that do their own arrangements of covers, improvise their own solos, etc. Willing to get ready for an "after the Pandemic is over" situation. Also just looking for players who just want to jam, particularly drummers and bassists, but please know your instrument. My recording session rates are negotiable, will do 1st session as a "free" audition. Will address any Covid concerns you may have, wear a mask, etc. Hope to hear from you. Peace... Frank V.
