Description

We are a new cover band focusing on playing mostly songs from the 2000's to now, specifically mostly songs of the pop punk and emo variety. If you're a millennial, you know exactly what we're going for: Blink 182, Sum 41, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, All Time Low, Paramore, etc. We're decent musicians paying tribute to the songs we listened to growing up / now, we take our music seriously, and we want to do a great job of playing the songs everyone our age knows and loves. We will step outside of these restrictions if the music is somewhat related. For instance, we'll throw in a few 90's pop punk songs (Green Day, NOFX, etc.), or some 2000's rock radio hits (Weezer, etc.). Pop punk also seems to be having a resurgence now (Machine Gun Kelly, etc.) so we might throw in a few of those songs as well. Whatever sounds cool, fits into the style, and is fun to play, we'll be playing. We will mostly definitely NOT be playing generic rock songs from the same time periods. Sorry fans of Mr. Brightside and Sex on Fire: if that's what you're into that's totally cool, but absolutely not what this band will be about. We also won't be playing older songs from the 60's - 80's, which again while cool, isn't what we're doing here. For a singer we're looking for someone 20-40 years old. Not much else is specifically required, aside from the fact that you're an awesome vocalist. We would like someone with an outgoing stage personality / stage presence, as you will be the main focal point of the band. The ability to interact with the crowd is important, and to throw in some banter between during downtime between songs helps. Looks are mildly important, not so much your physical appearance but just dressing the part. For a bass player we're looking for someone 20-40 years old as well. Requirements are pretty basic here as well: you must know the songs, have your own equipment in good working order, and the ability to transport said equipment. Playing with picks or fingers doesn't matter, as long as you can cut through the mix. P or J bass preferred, but basically anything can work if you can dial in your tones. Your tone should have a little bit of grit on it, so hopefully you use some sort of distortion pedal or a Darkglass B3k/B7k or something similar. Some songs will also require an octave up pedal, so you can fill in the sound / underlying root note parts while the lead guitar plays the melody (think the main riffs in Dammit, Fat Lip, etc.) If any of this appeals to you, feel free to reach out and we'd love to chat. A sample of your singing / bass playing will be requested if you're a good fit, but nothing serious: a cell phone video of you singing or playing along to a song would be fine just to show us you can play. We have multiple practice spaces in Rhode Island, and a practice location and schedule will bet set up that works for everyone in the band. We're looking to practice ideally once a week, or at a minimum once every other week. Anyway, if you've made it this far, thanks for reading all of this. If you think you'd be a good fit, we look forward to hearing from you!
