Description
Join us for a community circle & altar-building to honor Breonna Taylor. In collaboration with The Honeycomb Network & Outdoor Afro Chicago. Her life mattered. March 13th, 2021 it will be 365 days from the moment 26 year old Breonna Taylor was killed at the hands of the police as she lay in her home with her partner in Louisville Kentucky. Breonna should be here. Her life mattered and it still does and we never want to forget that. This country collectively mourns yearly white men who have been killed but constantly forgets Black people. Forgets Black women. On Saturday, March 13 BBB will be in partnership with Outdoor Afro and The Honeycomb Network to take time to mourn, to grieve, to shout, to be angry, to be, to remember, to say our sister's name and make sure we never forget. What will we do? Monday March 8 to Friday March12 Stop by The Honeycomb Network's letter writing station (2659 W. Division) to write a letter to Breonna and visit the mural created by local artist Stef Skills. Saturday March 13 We will meet at the Humboldt Park Boat House for a community circle and nature walk lead by Christine Meissner of Outdoor Afro Chicago. After the walk, we will gather to create a community altar and canvas dedicated to Breonna. Folks who have written letters are welcome to contribute them to the altar.
