Description

Hi everyone I am looking for a good home for my turtle Sammy I don’t know if it is a boy or girl but I think it maybe a girl (still not sure though) it was bought by a family member in Florida and we have had Sammy for three years now and he/she is still very small.. these turtles can live up to 30 years so I’m looking for someone who knows about them and can give Sammy the best home possible. Sammy is absolutely adorable and docile sometimes he/she is scared and swims away but never aggressive... we pick Sammy up a lot and he/she just sits calmly and let’s us hold him/her. The size Sammy is now is 4 inches long tops. Fits in my hand with room to go. Grows super slow I have learned. Probably won’t be full grown for another few years at least I am guessing. But I honestly can’t really say I’m passionate about turtles. My family member was honestly just naive when they purchased this turtle and when they got it they bought it from a souvenir type shop at the beach somewhere and they brought it home in a hermit crab like cage and were told just to feed it once a day and that was it... after I saw the turtle I became curious as to what kind he/she was and learned about the breed and how much they actually require. It made me so angry that so many turtles were being sold as mini turtles when really they were just baby slider turtles and they need just as much care as any other pet if not more... they need lights water basking space and filters for water. I just couldn’t believe the poor thing was at my in laws in a hermit crab tank for almost a whole year with no light no nothing for that long.. I immediately brought it to my house and got what it really needed and have been doing my best to take as good of care of it as I can. But honestly I’m not very interested I just felt sorry for Sammy. So now I’m looking for a permanent home where he or she can have a happy long life and an owner who is passionate.. I honestly want someone who has turtles or a turtle similar to Sammy like a red ear slider or something. Please do not contact me because ur having some random urge to buy a pet and not truly ready to commit or have done your research prior to... I want a good home and am in no rush to rehome I am patient when it comes to rehoming animals and won’t just say yes to anyone. I also will want your word that u will return him to me and me only if it ends up not working out so I can ensure he finds another great home and doesn’t end up thrown in a lake somewhere. These turtles can be released but only under certain circumstances, weather conditions, size, and health... if you think you sound like you can give Sammy a great permanent home and are willing to clean a tank every two weeks then feel free to reach out to me. Please do not think I am being rude or picky I just want what is best for this innocent sweet turtle
