Melrose Officer Promoted To Sergeant

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Police Department has a new sergeant. Niklaus MacIntosh was promoted March 1 at City Hall, elevating the hometown boy from officer to sergeant. "Sgt. MacIntosh has done an outstanding job during his time with the Melrose Police Department and I have no doubt that he will continue to excel in this new role," Chief Michael Lyle said in a statement. "I wish him all the best as he takes this next step in his career." MacIntosh has been with the department since 2014, assisting in the Junior Police Academy the past four years. He's been a bicycle officer in the summer. From 2009-14, MacIntosh was in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012. The North Shore Community College grad also coaches high school and youth wrestling. "It's great to someone with a commitment to our community's youth move up the ranks," Mayor Paul Brodeur said. "I'm excited to see what Sgt. MacIntosh accomplishes in this next stage of his career with the Melrose Police Department."
