NEW LONDON, CT — Police are investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy on Nautilus Drive early Sunday morning. The child's mother has been charged with his murder, police said late Sunday. New London police responded at 6:27 a.m. to a report of a woman damaging a vehicle in the parking lot of 242 Nautilus Dr. with a baseball bat, police said. The suspect had left before police arrived, only to return while they were speaking with the vehicle's owner, police said. The suspect, later identified as Tiffany Farrauto, 33, of Nautilus Drive, told police that she had hurt her son, police said. Farrauto told police she had "strangled" her 4-year-old son, and he was in the apartment, police said in a news release. Police went to her apartment to check on the child. They found the boy unconscious and unresponsive, called emergency medical personnel and began CPR in an attempt to resuscitate, police said. The child was driven to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, and pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said. Farrauto was initially charged with two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, and then she was charged on a warrant with murder and risk of injury to a minor. She is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond. #NewLondon Police release photo of the suspect believed to be involved in the death of a 4-year old boy. 33-y/o Tiffany Farrato is charged with murder and risk of injury to a minor.
