By Editor, Times of San Diego March 5, 2021 It's just about spring and you know what that means – flowers are in bloom in San Diego and it's time to shake off your cobwebs and get out of doors to enjoy the beauty of it all. But if you can't shed your streams after nearly a year of being indoors, Amazon is bringing you a comedy legend this weekend. It's been 33 years since Coming to America, when Eddie Murphy was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. That's a long time to wait for a sequel, but Coming 2 America (get it?) comes to Amazon Prime Friday. Murphy's prince, who has ascended to become King Akeem, not surprisingly, has learned a return to the U.S. is in order. Why? Not telling, but the faithful Semmi – Arsenio Hall of late-night talk show fame – is back along for the ride. Before Pinterest and Instagram, tours were the way to peek behind the curtain at stylish structures. The San Diego Architectural Foundation offers the sixth annual Open House San Diego – OH! San Diego for short – to give the curious a look at some of the region's most impressive buildings and public spaces. This year's event, both virtual and in-person, takes a more diverse approach by hitting seven communities, including Barrio Logan, La Mesa, National City and San Marcos. Most events are free, but some have suggested donations. It's the last chance to stream San Diego Repertory Theatre's Bollywood Kitchen – the play closes Saturday. The production, in partnership with the Geffen Theatre in Los Angeles, features filmmaker and cookbook author Sri Rao as he prepares an Indian meal, drawing on family recipes as he tells the story of his parents' arrival in America, and the joy that Bollywood musicals they favored. The production invites you to cook along with him. Tickets, at $40 each, are limited. If you've been waiting for blooms to wash away the gloom, you have some options, and not just because we're entering San Diego's prime wildflower season: Finally, with no Broadway San Diego, you might be jones'ing for some show tunes. Let Bodhi Tree Concerts entertain you. Local jazz vocalist Leonard Patton performs in a 4 p.m. Sunday stream. Admission costs $25.
