Brooklyn Metal Works is a 5,400 sq ft metal art studio that offers daily, weekly and hourly bench rentals, monthly private bench rentals and Semi-private studio space to rent. We are centrally located in Prospect Heights, surrounded by excellent shops and restaurants as well as many of Brooklyn's cultural attractions. Our building is very safe and equipped with security cameras, sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers. We are also accessible by biking lanes and are within 2 blocks of 2 Citi Bike locations. The 2nd floor studio is equipped with three large sinks, 5 ductless fume hoods in two separate soldering areas, 1 fume hood that exhausts outside, two light metal grinding and polishing areas, two enameling kiln, a shared flammable and corrosive cabinet, a hydraulic press, a small drill press, Durston bench shear, two rolling mills, a Beverly shear, lapidary equipment and a trim saw, slip roller and bending break, polishing machine, vibratory tumbler, 2 rotary tumblers and stainless steel shot, a small magnetic finisher, steamer, bench grinder, bandsaw and belt sander for wood/acrylic/wax, metal belt sander, surface plate, 2 anvils, melting torch with ingot molds and crucibles and an assortment of silversmithing stakes, hammers, hand tools and forming tools. Storage lockers are also available to rent for $10/month or $100/year. The 4th floor studio is equipped with 2 large sinks, 1 ductless fume hoods, 4 point exhaust fume collectors in 3 separate soldering areas, two light metal grinding and polishing areas, a shared corrosive cabinet, Durston bench shear, 158mm Durston combination rolling mill, fulling enclosed HEPA filtered polishing machine, rotary tumbler and stainless steel shot, a large magnetic finisher, steamer, anvils and an assortment of stakes, hammers, hand tools and forming tools. There are 2 bathrooms on the 4th floor and one bathroom on the 2nd floor. Both floors have kitchenettes with a sink, small refrigerator, microwaves and electric kettles. Brooklyn Metal Works has a gallery that hosts a yearly member's show which all members are encouraged to participate in. The gallery can also be reserved by members for meetings. Semi-private studio rental -- These studios consist of a 10' x 10' spaces on the 5th floor or a 7' x 7' work space surrounded by three 4 foot high walls and a brick exterior wall with windows. This space will allow you to store your tools, personal bench, materials and supplies. You may solder and work wax at your bench safely with the use of a provided fume extractor. You have access to use all BKMW studio tools and equipment as long as you have been trained to use them. You will also be encouraged to exhibit your work on the BKMW website. The cost of a semi-private space is$900 a month for the 10' x 10' spaces and $550 a month for the 7' x 7' work space which includes all utilities (water, electric, AC, Heat & WiFi). You will also receive (with a deposit) your own keys to the BKMW studios and 24 hour access once you have completed the FDNY G-61 Certificate of Fitness exam. In addition you will receive a 10% discount on all classes and workshops offered at Brooklyn Metal Works. Dedicated bench rental - These butcher block top benches have locking side drawers for storage. A central soldering area and sink is provided for use; soldering is not allowed at these benches. You have access to use all BKMW studio tools and equipment as long as you have been trained to use them. The cost of a private bench rental is $385 a month which includes all utilities. There are other pricing options for people who are interested in shorter rentals of a private bench. These benches may be used 10am-9pm Monday-Thursday, 10am-7pm Friday and 11am-7pm Saturday and Sunday expect for BKMW scheduled holidays. You will also receive (with a deposit) your own keys to the BKMW studios and 24 hour access once you have completed the FDNY G-61 Certificate of Fitness exam. In addition you will receive a 10% discount on all classes and workshops offered at Brooklyn Metal Works. Daily, Weekly and Hourly bench rental - These benches are located in the general studio area, which has its own soldering and sink area. These benches are subject to use when there are no classes or workshops scheduled. They are available on a weekly, daily or hourly basis. Daily rentals are $83 a day or $146 for the weekend. Hourly rates are $18/hr. Price reductions are available by purchasing weekly time cards. These benches may be used 10am-9pm Monday-Thursday, 10am-7pm Friday and 11am-7pm Saturday and Sunday expect for BKMW scheduled holidays.
