Description
Get outside and plant trees! Let's help salmon, resident orcas, and improve our local parks! Join Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group and the City of Auburn for a fun day planting native trees and shrubs to help salmon. Healthy salmon runs help local communities, tribal, recreational, and commercial fisheries, and the whole Puget Sound ecosystem including our Southern Resident Killer Whales. We'll be working from 10am-1pm, our main focus will be planting native trees and shrubs. They will provide shade to the river, cooling water temperatures, important for healthy salmon. Examples of species we'll be planting include Douglas Fir, Western red cedar, vine maple, and snowberry. Learn more about what you could grow in your backyard! The event will begin with a brief discussion that includes information about the site, the partnering organizations, why this work is important, tool use, and safety. We will provide work gloves, all instructions, and all tools. Please plan to arrive on time for the start of the event and allow extra time to find parking.
