BOUNDARY OAK GOLF COURSE JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: MECHANIC DEPARTMENT: GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE REPORTS TO: ASSISTANT/GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT WITHOUT SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (FLEXIBLE WORK HOURS) SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Under supervision, the Mechanic provides support to the Golf Course Maintenance department. This position is responsible for ensuring that all golf course maintenance equipment is in an efficient, operable, and safe condition. The Mechanic will repair and maintain all mechanized and motorized equipment, recommending replacement if necessary. This position assists the Assistant/Golf Course Superintendent in the successful growth and operations of Boundary Oak Golf Course. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: PROMOTE FINANCIAL STABILITY • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects of golf course maintenance equipment. • Purchase parts. • Perform general overhaul of motors. • Repair transmission, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems, and high-pressure pumps and valves. • Install and adjust brakes; install batteries, tires, wiring, and glass. • Diagnose mechanical trouble and schedule appropriate preventive maintenance work. • Machine and weld equipment. • Grind and sharpen mower blades. • Perform general automotive painting or body and fender repair work as required. • Repair other departmental buildings as needed. FOSTER TEAMWORK AND COHESIVENESS • Supervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation, and drainage systems. • Attend departmental meetings as required. ENSURE COMPANY AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE • Instruct equipment operators in the safe, efficient operation and care of mowing and other equipment. • Organize and maintain a clean service area and maintenance building. • Maintain records of preventive maintenance, completed repairs, and departmental orders. BUILD POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY • Display a professional appearance and attitude, remaining courteous to guests at all times JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: • Demonstrated mechanical skill using a wide variety of equipment repair tools. • Ability to schedule and supervise work to achieve an efficient utilization of employees and equipment. • Thorough knowledge of:  automotive apparatus.  light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment.  internal combustion engines and mowers.
