Weymouth Remains One Of 19 Coronavirus Red Zones

WEYMOUTH, MA — Weymouth is one of only 19 communities in Massachusetts still considered high-risk for coronavirus transmission, according to Thursday's statistics from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The town has been labeled as a coronavirus "red zone" since December 10, meaning that it is at the highest risk of transmission and has continued to report at least 10 average daily cases per 10,000 residents and a 4% positivity rate for nearly three months. As of Thursday, there have been 4,427 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Weymouth, with 228 reported in the last two weeks. Weymouth currently has an average daily incidence rate of 29 and a positivity rate of 4.26%, a slight decrease from last week's average daily incidence rate of 31.5 and 4.73% positivity rate. The other Massachusetts communities still considered "red zones" are Blackstone, Chicopee, Clinton, Fall River, Freetown, Hadley, Haverhill, Lawrence, Ludlow, Lynn, Methuen, New Bedford, Peabody, Plainville, Springfield, Sterling, Sutton, and West Bridgewater.
