People are tired of the animosity.

It has become clear in recent months that despite a persons political views, the vast majority of Americans are tired of the animosity, the resentment and the division. People are over the hate. People are exhausted by the drama that has become American politics. The good news is, the president (neither current nor previous) are dominating our headlines. The dominant news stories are non political once again. I do not think Americans will abandon their political positions. But I do think that people are becoming more tolerant of views that differ from their own. We are back to the good ol’ days when the right and the left were adversaries rather than enemies. It has also become clear that political party affiliation is becoming less and less relevant. Record numbers of voters are registering as “independent” party voters. I see all of this as a very good thing for our nation. The extremists will work hard to perpetuate the division in America but Americans are not falling for it. They are weary of the extremist lip service. America has learned what it does want by experiencing what we do NOT want. We do not want division.
