You must attend a BCS Tractor Training to be eligible to rent the CCCD's BCS Tractor. Join the CCCD in partnership with UNH Cooperative Extension and the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), as they host a BCS Tractor Training on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Stonewall Farm, 242 Chesterfield Rd. Keene, NH. Choose from one of two sessions on April 27th: 9:00am-12:00pm 1:00pm-4:00pm If you are interested in renting the BCS Tractor from the CCCD in 2021, you must attend this BCS Training to be eligible to rent this equipment. Registration is required. Space is extremely limited so serious registrants only please. Please only register for this training if you are committed to attending, so that those who most want to attend can do so. If/when registration fills up, you may contact the CCCD to be placed on a waiting list for future BCS Trainings this Spring. To be placed on the waiting list contact Lola Bobrowski at: [email protected] or call 603-756-2988 x3011 _________________________________________________________________________________ Last year, the Cheshire County Conservation District (CCCD) expanded its fleet of farm rental equipment with the purchase of a walk-behind BCS Tractor to support local gardeners, homesteaders, small farms, and high tunnel operations. Walk-behind tractors, also known as two-wheel or hand tractors, are used world-wide for small-scale farm, landscaping, and home use. The BCS Tractor comes with several soil health implements that include a 26” flail mower and 30” roller-crimper for mowing over or rolling down cover crops, a 30” power harrow for seedbed prep and tillage/weed control, a 30” drop seeder for seeding lawns, cover crops or full-width dense seeding operations, a disk harrow for seeding, leveling soil or light weed control, a rotary spreader for spreading wood ash, lime, and other soil amendments, and a rotary plow for breaking new ground and building raised beds. Funding for this project is provided by the USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant awarded to the Cheshire County Conservation District through the NH Department of Agriculture, Markets, & Food, NH Association of Conservation Districts, and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
