BURLINGTON, MA — Around 30 cars across Burlington were broken into Tuesday night, the police department said Thursday. Chief Michael Kent said the department is investigating the more than two dozen recent break-ins. The department initially said on Twitter that they believed there were around 50 break-ins, Wednesday. Police believe the break-ins occurred between 1 and 4 a.m., Wednesday morning, on Marion, Meadowvale and Mohawk Roads, Paulson and Algonquin Drives and Carey and Pathwoods Avenues. All the vehicles that were broken into were left unlocked, the police said. "No community is immune from this type of criminal activity, but the easiest thing residents can do to prevent this kind of crime is simply to lock their doors and secure their belongings by removing them from inside their vehicles," Kent said in a statement. Stolen items included sunglasses, loose change, gift cards, jackets and a wristlet. Other cars were probably broken into with nothing stolen, investigators believe. Anyone with information can contact the department at 781-272-1212. Christopher Huffaker can be reached at 412-265-8353 or [email protected].
