Description
TOWN OF ISLIP, NY — As spring is approaching, many are planning on leaving winter behind. However, there is one side effect from a harsh winter that will persist: potholes.
For Town of Islip residents, officials recently launched a hotline to help find and fill potholes throughout its roadways.
Potholes are caused by the expansion and contraction of groundwater under the pavement. When water freezes, it expands causing potholes.
Town crews estimate there are hundreds of potholes throughout the town that need to be filled.
Residents are encouraged to call 631-224-5380 to report a pothole location and details.
