WATERBURY, CT - March 4, 2021
Dear Waterbury Public Schools Community,
In collaboration with Mayor Neil M. O'Leary, the City of Waterbury Department of Public Health and the Board of Education and upon review of the current health data for the City of Waterbury and the State of Connecticut, I am excited to share that Waterbury Public Schools will transition to a full day of instruction beginning on Monday, March 15. Students learning in-person will continue to follow the appropriate mitigation strategies, such as hand washing, physical distancing and mask protocols.
ALL students (in-person and remote) will follow the same daily start and end times for their school. A full day schedule will be followed on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with Wednesday remaining a half-day and students learning asynchronously in the afternoon.
**Please note that the transition to a full day also applies to students learning remotely.**
Monday - FULL DAYTuesday - FULL DAYWednesday - HALF-DAY (For In-Person and Remote, Synchronous Instruction in AM/Asynchronous Instruction in PM)Thursday - FULL DAYFriday - FULL DAY
The Food Service Department will continue to prepare and distribute meals to students learning remotely. More information regarding the schedule and sites will be released early next week.
It is my hope that we will, through our collective efforts, be able to operate a full day schedule for the remainder of the school year. I know my entire staff will continue to work tirelessly to educate our children during these extraordinary times while maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Stay safe.
Sincerely,
Dr. Verna D. Ruffin Superintendent of Schools
