BOWIE, MD — Bowie police have increased their focus on drug enforcement, noting a recent spike in narcotic and gun crimes. Last week was no different. The Bowie Police Department reported three drug violations. Here is when and where the write-up said they happened: Feb. 24: The intersection of Race Track Road and Laurel Bowie RoadFeb. 24: The intersection of Laurel Bowie Road and Rockledge DriveFeb. 25: The intersection of Mount Oak Road and Mitchellville Road. Only the last encounter led to an arrest, the tweet clarified. Altogether, Bowie police disclosed 13 drug crimes in February. That's more than the usual handful that the city sees. "The recovery of these weapons and drugs has further ensured the safety of streets that many call 'home,'" the department posted on Facebook. "We extend our thanks for your support in alerting our department to continued drug use and/or suspicious activity as we continue to diligently patrol the City of Bowie."
