NEWARK, NJ — Newark authorities are asking for the public's help finding a missing man who is experiencing homelessness.
Sabir Jones, 37, was reported missing on March 3, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Jones has been diagnosed with depression and psychosis, authorities said.
"While detectives are actively searching for Jones, we seek the public's help in quickly locating him and returning him to his family," police said.
According to police, Jones was last seen around 7 p.m. on Feb. 26 at 16th Avenue and South 10th Street. He's been known to sleep at Newark Penn Station and frequent McCarter Highway.
Police said Jones is 5 feet 9 inches and 190 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and a medium skin complexion. He was last seen wearing a red, white and blue Tommy Hilfiger jacket, light blue jeans, a black hat, Nike footwear and a navy pullover sweatshirt with a hood.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jones can call the department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the police division's website at: www.newarkpd.org or through its smartphone app.
