Tamara Schaeffer Withdraws As Frankfort Trustee Candidate

FRANKFORT, IL — Tamara Schaeffer dropped out of the race for Frankfort village trustee due to one of her parent's health issues, she wrote on her campaign website. Schaeffer withdrew her candidacy Feb. 23, according to the Will County Clerk's website. Her name will still be listed on the ballot, but votes cast for her will be invalid, the clerk's website states. "As a healthcare provider...this responsibility [of caring for her parents] is a privilege, and one that must come before any political campaign," Schaeffer wrote on her website. "As such, I have withdrawn my candidate for Frankfort Village Trustee so that the people of Frankfort may be afforded a candidate who can dedicate themselves fully to the role and its responsibilities." This leaves candidates Daniel Rossi and Eugene Savaria on the ballot, and Michael Leddin as a write-in candidate. There are three open trustee positions. Leddin withdrew his candidacy after Schaeffer filed an objection against his nominating petitions. Schaeffer objected to the validity of several signatures on Leddin's petition, according to meeting minutes from the Frankfort Municipal Officers Electoral Board. Leddin later filed to run as a write-in candidate. Schaeffer had also filed an objection to candidate hopeful Brian Feehery. Feehery, who is the current Village Clerk, withdrew his candidacy in January, after Schaeffer objected the validity of his petition signatures as well. Feehery is not listed as a write-in candidate for the April 6 election. Patch reached out to Schaeffer for comment via her campaign website.
