Federal Tactical Team Executes Livermore Search Warrant

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore's Somerset neighborhood awoke early Thursday morning to find a federal law enforcement tactical team executing a search warrant in their community, police said. Federal officials have not shared details about the circumstances surrounding the arrest, as the investigation remains ongoing. Many reported hearing loud bangs, which the Livermore Police Department said were two stun grenades — or flashbangs — detonating around 6 a.m. The search warrant was executed in the 100 block of Rainier Avenue. Police were not involved in the search, but said the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Bureau was responsible for serving the warrant and successfully took the target of the warrant into custody. The bureau declined to comment and deferred to the U.S. Attorney's Office, which confirmed the search but would not share additional details pending the investigation. A spokesperson did, however, say there was no threat to the public.
