DOYLESTOWN, PA — The iconic neon tower sign returned to the County Theater of Doylestown this week as the historic venue plans an expanded reopening in 2021.
The refurbished sign is just one piece of the theater's $5 million expansion project to build a new lobby and a third theater, which are expected to be completed by the end of March, Theater Director John Toner said.
"It is too soon to announce a definite reopening date," Toner said. "This is such a moving target dependent on the vaccination rollout and many other factors. As we get closer, we'll announce specific plans as to how and when we'll reopen. We would love to reopen with a big splash, but that is not going to happen. Instead, we'll have a soft, gradual opening."

Toner said the theater plans to hold its annual gala fundraiser celebration later in the year.
