ELMHURST, IL — A Darien woman assaulted three Elmhurst police officers Tuesday after she was arrested on a number of charges, police said. Makayla Vaughn, 20, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, two counts of theft, obstructing identification and driving with a suspended license. She was also arrested on warrants from the sheriff's offices in DuPage and Will counties. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Police came into contact with Vaughn after they spotted a stolen car and after she committed two cell phone thefts, police said. While under arrest, she battered the three officers, police said. In July, Darien police arrested Vaughn on two counts of domestic battery at a hotel, according to a report.
