Press release from the City Of Davis:
March 04, 2021 10:09 am
Next week, the City of Davis will remove the Evergreen Ash tree in Slide Hill park that lost a limb on February 23, 2021, during a major wind event. The removal is based on the recommendation of an independent arborist hired by the City. The recommendation was made out of an abundance of caution due to its proximity to a play area and taking into account that a Davis resident lost her life when the limb fell on her while she was at the park. The arborist is still evaluating other trees in the park to determine whether further pruning, removal or other modifications are needed. "We continue to mourn the loss of a community member, a wife and a mother, because of this tragic incident," said Mayor Gloria Partida. "Our parks and tree teams are in the field assessing our trees, and we welcome the community's help in reporting trees that need evaluation." The community is encouraged to report tree issues or other City service matters using the online service request system at: www.cityofdavis.org/how-do-i/make-a-service-request Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), community members may also call 530-757-5686 or email: [email protected] for Public Works issues.
