Worcester Beer Garden Reopening, Other Grid Spots Staying Dormant

WORCESTER, MA — One of Grid Hospitality Group's three main nightlife spots in downtown Worcester will reopen in April, but the company is planning to keep two others in hibernation for the foreseeable future. Grid Hospitality operations director Gary Benacquista appeared at the Worcester License Commissioners meeting Thursday to ask for approval to become the manager of record for the Worcester Beer Garden and Craft Table & Bar, neighbors along Franklin Street across from City Hall. Benacquista said the beer garden will open next month. But since there are no managers employed by Grid right now, he needed to put his name on the liquor license. The company hibernated the two spots, plus Revolution Pie & Pint, at the beginning of winter due to coronavirus. Two other Grid spots, the Brew on the Grid coffee shop and Franklin Street Fare, are open now. The beer garden opening date is April 13, and Grid is hiring. Benacquista said the company would return to the license commission later in March to ask for a change in manager for Revolution Pie & Pint in preparation for it to reopen later this year.
