ATLANTA, GA — Georgians could receive a coupon for a free doughnut from Dunkin' for donating blood as the need for blood donors remains throughout the pandemic. Dunkin' of Georgia partnered with the American Red Cross Georgia region to provide 10,000 vouchers for a free Classic Donut at participating mobile blood drives and donor centers, a March 1 press release said. The vouchers are redeemable at participating Dunkin' restaurants in the Georgia region, while supplies last, in honor of Red Cross Month in March. Blood and platelets are needed every day to help patients battling disease, including the coronavirus, the release said. All blood donations are being tested for COVID-19 antibodies, and those who test positive may be able to support patients suffering with COVID-19 through a convalescent plasma donation or by giving whole blood. "During these challenging times, Dunkin' and our local franchisees want to do all we can to support those who are giving back to our community," said Katie Gaston, Dunkin' field marketing manager, in the release. "This program is a wonderful opportunity to encourage blood donations and ultimately help save lives. The need for blood remains constant and we're excited that Dunkin' can aid the American Red Cross' collection efforts through this wonderful partnership." For those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine, the Red Cross asks that Georgians bring their vaccination card or printout indicating the vaccine manufacturer. To schedule an appointment to donate blood, visit the Red Cross website, download its Red Cross blood donor app or call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
