From the Birmingham Public Library: March 5, 2021 The Birmingham Public Library launched Food Truck Friday today, March 5, kicking off a series of events every Friday throughout March that allow the public to whet their palates and help support the 2021 BPL Bookmobile initiative. Thanks to a donation of a vehicle from the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA), the Birmingham Public Library is preparing to convert it into a bookmobile that will take its library services of books and other catalog items beyond its four walls and deliver them to the community. Food Truck Friday will take place every Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at four BPL locations: Central Library, Avondale Library, Five Points West Library, and Springville Road Library. The schedule is as follows (all from 11:00 am. to 2:00 p.m.: Central Library, 2100 Park Place Friday, March 5 – Kamali Creole Kitchen & Underground Vegan Friday, March 12 – Kamali Creole Kitchen & Pazzo Big Slice Pizza Friday, March 19 - Kamali Creole Kitchen Friday, March 26 - Kamali Creole Kitchen Avondale Regional Library, 509 40th Street South Friday, March 5 – W.O.E.D. – Ways of Eating & Drinking Friday, March 19 – Pazzo Big Slice Pizza Springville Road Regional Library, 1224 Springville Road Friday, March 12 – W.O.E.D. – Ways of Eating & Drinking Five Points West Regional Library, 4812 Avenue W Friday, March 19 – W.O.E.D. – Ways of Eating & Drinking Friday, March 26 – W.O.E.D. – Ways of Eating & Drinking BPL hosted another food truck fundraiser, called Soulful Sundays, last December 6. BPL plans to introduce its bookmobile later this year and is asking individuals and others who support the cause to join the effort.
