Asbestos Abatement Worker Job Description: Assemble scaffolding and seal off work area using plastic and duct tape. Position different air evacuation equipment and filtration systems in precise area to ensure safe abatement. Be able to perform manual demolition. Follow all health a safety guide lines for safe abatement. Be able to wear mask and decontamination suits for long periods of time. Cut and remove all different kinds of ACM contaminated material. Bag all contaminated debris in double bags and remove from property and safely store in asbestos container. Responsible for having a clean and safe job site. Always be respectful of people home and belongings. Position mobile decontamination unit or portable showers at the entrance of the work area. Perform daily equipment check. Either hold an asbestos worker card or be willing to go through asbestos training. Clean an maintain tools, equipment, and trucks. There are many other elements to being an asbestos worker then just removing asbestos. You need to be open to other tasks that may be asked of you and be ready to learn. Pick up necessary supplies for job. Make sure you always have all tools and equipment you need for a job before you get there. Skills: Knowledge of basic construction techniques, and practices concerning asbestos, mold or lead-based paint removal or demolition and deconstruction operations; Must possess Asbestos Worker Certification; Ability to lift 50 lbs. unaided, stand, and climb on ladders, roofs, and uneven / unstable surfaces. Ability to follow oral instructions promptly and accurately; Ability to work in disagreeable conditions; Ability to perform strenuous physical labor; Ability to work as an effective team member; Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships; Ability to complete projects in a timely manner Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour to start with lots of room for advancement COVID-19 considerations: We do special COVID-19 safety checks and meetings at every job site before we enter a home. Most the time the homeowner is not present when we are. We wear a mask at all times and practice social distancing.
