Looking for a helper at my art studio / woodshop

Description

I have a workshop around Airport and Lamar and I’m looking for someone to help me get various projects done and to keep the shop in order. I make wood sculptures and furniture and some odd machines here and there. I’m very much into digital fabrication with a 5x10’ CNC, but I’d to spend more time designing and less time finishing. It could be considered an internship of sorts as there will be learning opportunity with the design stuff if you want it. But to be totally clear, this is mostly hard-ish work along the lines of the following: • Power sanding and hand sanding pieces after they come off the CNC • Lots of finishing work - applying water-based poly and paint. Some of this will be using a paint sprayer • General clean up and organization around the shop, probably lots of sweeping • Moving heavy things during our shop setup phase The pay is $15/hr and it’ll be as needed until I start generating enough business to support something more full time. In the beginning it’ll be coming in once or twice a week most likely. I’m really not sure yet since the shop is a new business. You don’t need to own any tools, and I’ll provide everything including safety gear. You’ll be required to wear a respirator and ear protection in some cases, and it will be mandatory that you follow best practices on dust collection (which I’ll show you). Goal is to keep a very safe, clean shop. I’ll also require that you sign a liability waiver before starting. I think that’s everything but I’m happy to answer any questions any time. If you're interested, please respond and let me know what part of town you'll be coming from.
