POSITION SUMMARY Painter is responsible for mixing, matching, and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touchups, and coordinating large painting projects and the preparation and finishing that the project requires ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Prepares surfaces for painting by scraping, burning, power washing, sanding, and filling; applies undercoating. Tape and patch sheetrock or wallboard. • Performs preventive maintenance tasks to ensure proper adhesion and wear. • Possess exceptional skills in cutting in around objects without the use of painter’s tape. • Sets up and dismantles scaffolding. Keeps area clean at all times including maintaining brushes, rollers, spray, and other equipment. • Safety is number one priority. Make sure materials are used and stored properly. • Paints parking lines and installs parking buttons on facilities' property. • Consistently analyzes and solves complex problems related to painting new and old facilities. • Team work. Coordinates work activities with co-workers and outside vendors. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Requires completion of a painter apprenticeship program or three years in the painting trade working under a journey-level painter performing a variety of work in the trade (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class). • Proficient at trim work, stains, etc. • Must have basic tools. • Able to demonstrate experience in the operation and use of airless and HVLP sprayers. • Adhere to established safety procedures. REQUIRED • Must have reliable transportation. • Provide current Driver’s license. Adhere to established safety procedures. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. WORK SCHEDULE Work schedule varies depending on project. Early mornings and weekends may be required. EQUIPMENT, MACHINES, VEHICLES USE Various painting equipment: sprayers, ladders. Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades. Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical hazards. Safely use all vehicles and machine equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoor and outdoor environments: varied exposure to hot and cold temperatures and different weather conditions.
