GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Under direct supervision, performs a variety of unskilled and semiskilled tasks in the parks maintenance of Prospect Recreation & Park District. Work involves operating mowing equipment and power trimmers to mow and trim turf areas. Employee is also responsible for picking up and discarding trash, raking leaves, weeding flower beds, pruning trees, painting facilities and other duties as required. Reports to full-time Groundskeeper staff, as assigned. Specific Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Job Functions Operates turf mowing equipment and power trimmers to mow and trim turf of park grounds and athletic fields: and ensures that equipment is in proper working condition. Operates pick-up trucks and other relevant grounds maintenance equipment in conjunction with performing park duties and transports equipment or materials with attached utility trailer. Utilizes a variety of hand tools related to grounds maintenance work including, but not limited to shovels, rakes, brooms and pruners; picks up and discards trash; rakes leaves; weeds flower beds; prunes trees and shrubs; and paints park facilities. Prepares parks, pavilions, athletic fields & facilities for scheduled and unscheduled use. Washes and cleans park vehicles and equipment in conjunction with assigned work and assists other park workers, as needed. Minimum Qualifications • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain upon hire and maintain an acceptable driving record. Work Schedule • Typically works 6 to 9 months out of the year, depending upon business and operational needs. Additional Job Functions Performs other related work as required. Special Requirements May be required to work weekends, nights and holidays. Our Ideal Candidate • Is available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as well as work shifts different from other work groups. • Will have the knowledge of common commercial maintenance practices used in public facility maintenance, trail, park and open space maintenance, and irrigation maintenance. • Will have experience in park maintenance work to include commercial mowing operations, small engine tool use in the construction or landscape trade and operation of basic landscape equipment. • Will have the ability to maintain public shelter facilities including picnic table repair, trash receptacle repair, stocking supplies, painting, staining, restroom cleaning, sanitizing, and grill maintenance. • Will have knowledge of public safety practices while maintaining public areas and the ability to perform job hazard analysis. • Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills To Apply: Please print and fill out application at Please email the completed application or mail in a hardcopy to Prospect Recreation & Park District, 4198 Xenon Street, Wheat Ridge CO 80033.
