HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man was arrested after police said he improperly stored two guns in his vehicle, according to police. Police responded to a Twin Brook Road residence on Feb. 17 on the report of two stolen guns, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Keith Norfleet told police that in September 2020, he had left the weapons in a bag inside his vehicle and the guns were missing when he returned home hours later, Smith said. Officer Michael White conducted an investigation that led to an arrest warrant for Norfleet. Norfleet, 31, of Hamden, was arrested Tuesday on charges of improper storage of a firearm in a motor vehicle and failure to report a lost or stolen firearm. Northfleet, who was released after posting a $1,000 bond, is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on May 25. "Leaving a firearm(s) inside of your unattended vehicle is a major cause of concern," Smith wrote in a news release. "This presents a safety issue to the police and the community. Stolen guns are frequently used in criminal activity. Please safely store your firearm in a locked steel gun cabinet, strong box or safe, and always utilize a trigger lock. Never leave a gun inside your vehicle."
