WHEATON, IL — In Wheaton, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 39 cases in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). This reflects a slight decrease over the previous week, in which Wheaton saw 44 new coronavirus cases. As of Feb. 23, there had been 3,835 coronavirus cases reported in Wheaton. The total number of cases reported in Wheaton as of March 2 was 3,874. On Feb. 23, the village had reported 2,723 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 2,748 as of March 2. The county also marked another milestone as its overall coronavirus positivity rate dropped to 3.4 percent, its lowest point since June 2020. The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
