Plainfield Has Highest Weekly Coronavirus Cases In Will County

PLAINFIELD, IL — For the first time since November, Plainfield reported the highest number of weekly coronavirus cases in Will County, according to recent data from the Will County Health Department. During the week of Feb. 22, Plainfield has 131 new cases, followed by Bolingbrook with 105 and Joliet with 87 cases. Throughout November, December, January and most of February the village has had the second-most number of weekly cases with Joliet leading with the most number of cases in the county. According to data gathered from the Illinois Department of Public Health, as of Wednesday, the south side of the village (zip code 60586) has an average 7-day rolling COVID-19 positivity rate of 5 percent, whereas the north side (zip code 60585) is at 5.76 percent and the central part (zip code 60544) has a 3 percent positivity rate. The WCHD reported 65,735 COVID-19 cases in the county as of Wednesday, an increase of 159 from Tuesday and 911 reported deaths, an increase of five during the same period.
