Two doctors have stepped up to bring a medical marvel and 2021 breakthrough to Hoboken. The FDA-approved non-invasive treatment for inflammation and chronic pain is now open in Hoboken, and patients are already raving about the results. It's drug-free, injection-free and studies show it can often help you avoid surgery. Dr. Marco Ferrucci and partner Dr. Tim Lyons decided to open their passion project in spite of the pandemic. Their doctors have been using SoftWave Therapy in patients in their Chiropractic practice in Cedar Grove and said they are seeing dramatic results. "It's nicknamed 'The Stem Cell Machine' and is non-invasive," explained Dr. Marco. "It is incredible and life-changing for patients, and we just started treating a patient who is partially paralyzed from the waist down. He became partially paralyzed after surgery, which unfortunately caused an infection that attacked his spinal cord, leaving him with his paralysis." Dr. Marco said the patient was treated with SoftWave Therapy, "working especially around his lower back and sacral region. During his first session, he said that because of his condition he has a very difficult time using the bathroom. After his initial treatment, he went into our bathroom and stayed for a long time. We were a little concerned but when he came out, he said this was the first time in a very long time he could actually do something we all take for granted — he went to the bathroom! It was very satisfying to see this progress and is continuing SoftWave Therapy with us weekly." Drs. Ferrucci and Lyons said their patients are reporting fast results, saying their pain is 50 - 80 percent gone within just a few sessions. Last week, fellow journalist Diane Lilli, who has been immersed in the new technology, visited the clinic at 70 Hudson St. in Hoboken. She was invited to sit in on a patient's treatment and ask questions. "I love science and anything that's grounded in new med-tech," she said. "I met a veteran, who was there for his second treatment. I love Dr. Marco and Dr. Tim, but I needed to see this for myself. It sounds so incredible. Their patients have been saying they feel 50 percent less pain after one or two visits." The veteran said he limped in for his first visit the week prior. He said his knees were extremely painful and that he just couldn't get around easily. "I came in because I don't want to get surgery," he said. "When I came in, I told the doctor my pain was high, using a scale of one to ten, and I was at a ten. When I left after my first treatment I was amazed. My pain went down to about a five." Dr. Ferrucci applied the gel to his knees and used a small application head. As he treated each knee, the small machine made a crackling noise. It took about thirty minutes to treat both knees, and the veteran did not flinch during the session, but said he felt when the SoftWave hit his "bad areas." After the treatment, Lilli said she watched in amazement as the vet hopped off the table and started walking around the room. "I asked him how he felt and did feel any different?" she said. "He laughed and said, well, I'd say my pain is at about a one." Dr. Ferrucci said this is the perfect treatment for anyone suffering from: DiabetesInflammationJoint pain such as found in the shoulder, knee, elbow, etc.Chronic Back pain Acute pain from wounds including burnsNumbing or tinglingTennis ElbowTorn ligamentsHeel spurs/Plantar Fasciitis It is approved for wound care and as of this week, a plastic surgery patient experiencing inflammation was booked to visit the Hoboken practice to ease her pain and swelling. I asked about my carpal tunnel syndrome and will be checking this treatment out for myself. This is hopeful news for many people, and in Hoboken, the future of medicine is here!
