CLEVELAND, OH — Pittsburgh native T.J. McConnell set an NBA record Wednesday with nine steals in the first half of the Indiana Pacers victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The previous record of eight has occurred a dozen times since the league began recording steals in 1973-74. T.J. McConnell sets an NBA RECORD with 9 steals in a half! The record for a full game is 11. pic.twitter.com/O0ctYizMmc— NBA (@NBA) March 4, 2021 McConnell had a 10th steal late in the fourth quarter, which according to NBA.com's John Schuhmann was the first points-assists-steals triple-double in nearly 23 years. The Pacers won the game 114-111. A Bridgeville native, McConnell is a Chartiers Valley High School graduate. He played locally for Duquesene University before transferring to the University of Arizona. Professionally, McConnell has played for the Pacers and the Philadelphia 76ers.
