Press release from the Town of Davidson: Posted on: March 3, 2021 Posted on: March 3, 2021 Town of Davidson Downtown Gathering Space Phase I Groundbreaking Town of Davidson Downtown Gathering Space Phase I: Construction Starts This Week Virtual Groundbreaking Next Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 1pm The Town of Davidson is breaking ground for the Downtown Gathering Space Phase I next Tuesday, March 9 , 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Funded by voter-supported 2017 General Obligation Bonds for Parks and a Main Street Grant from the State of North Carolina, construction on the first phase of the project began earlier this week. This project includes improvements to the downtown area behind Summit Coffee and The Pickled Peach. The playground will be moved and improved, brick walkways will be expanded, and water hydrants will be installed for use by the Davidson Farmers Market. The electrical transformer enclosure will be enhanced with aesthetic improvements. Future phases may include a pergola and some other improvements. The Davidson Board of Commissioners will be on site to commemorate the occasion with a brief groundbreaking ceremony. Due to public health guidance, the town is observing all COVID-19 protocols including holding the brief event outdoors and limiting the number of individuals present to those participating in the ceremony.
