Description
RIVERHEAD, NY — March 8 marks one year since the first coronavirus case was identified in Suffolk County — and in the year since that day, 3,105 lives were lost countywide to Covid-19.
The year has been marked by tears and loss but also by resilience, courage, tireless dedication, and hope as front-line heroes fought the battle against the coronavirus.
A "Covid-19 Day of Remembrance Ceremony" will be held at Peconic Bay Medical Center-Northwell Health on Monday, March 8 at 6:15 p.m. The ceremony will be held on the north side of the building between Corey Critical Care Pavilion and the Kanas Regional Heart Center.
The event is meant as a time for reflection and remembrance and to mark the many lives lost to the coronavirus — as well as to "acknowledge the ongoing grieving and widespread loss felt throughout the pandemic," organizers said.
The building will be illuminated in lavender from March 8 to March 14, and a memorial monument will be unveiled.
