Children’s Museum of Atlanta is set to kick off spring with a variety of cheerful, commemorative programs throughout March! Little ones can experience the joys of reading on Read Across America Day, discover some of history’s most empowering and influential women on International Women’s Day, find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow on St. Patrick’s Day and more. The Museum invites families to get lost in the fantastical world of noteworthy children’s book author Mo Willems and his delightful characters with The Pigeon Comes to Atlanta! A Mo Willems Exhibit. Children’s Museum of Atlanta makes the well-being of their guests its top priority, providing enhanced health and safety procedures to protect families throughout their visit. March Special Programming International Women’s Day Monday, March 8 This global day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Kids can dive into readings of Malala's Magic Pencil by Malala Yousafzai on Stage; the Museum will also be commemorating amazing women throughout history and around the world at the Science Bar and in the Creativity Café. Superhero Science Day Saturday, March 13 Calling all superheroes! Little ones are invited to grab their capes and come on over to Children's Museum of Atlanta. Kids will learn about the science of superheroes throughout the museum by exploring Storm's powers while learning about electricity, building their own special additions to Black Panther's suit, making Spider-Man slime and more! Costumes are encouraged.Pi Day Sunday, March 14 Families are invited to celebrate the Museum’s favorite never-ending number for Pi Day! On Stage, kids will read Happy Pi Day to You! by Bonnie Worth and embark on a pi scavenger hunt. Upstairs at the Science Bar, children will measure circles and play a “race to pi” card game. The fun continues in Creativity Café where little artists will create “pi in the sky” artwork and a pi paper chain. St. Patrick’s Day Tuesday, March 16 Top of the mornin’ to ya! Little ones will read Jamie O’Rourke and the Big Potato by Tomie dePaola and participate in an engaging St. Patrick’s Day craft. Upstairs at the Science Bar, kids will learn how to make their own rainbows. Navroz Celebration Saturday, March 20 Navroz, also known as the Iranian New Year or the Persian New Year, is a festival that marks both the beginning of a new year and the beginning of spring. Children will enjoy a fun-filled Navroz storytime and craft. Holi Celebration Saturday, March 27 Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is a Hindu holiday marking the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Kids will discover Holi by partaking in a celebratory storytime, craft and science activity. Passover Celebration Sunday, March 28 Passover is a week-long holiday that celebrates the exodus of the Jewish people out of Egypt. Children will dive deep into a Passover storytime and create a festive craft. Continuing in March … The Pigeon Comes to Atlanta! A Mo Willems Exhibit Through Sunday, May 9 Visitors are welcome to the alluring world of family-favorite children’s book author Mo Willems and his amusing characters including best friend duo Elephant Gerald and Piggie, faithful companion Knuffle Bunny and the wily city bird, The Pigeon, best known for his antics in Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! On Stage, kids can enjoy some of Willems’ exciting Elephant & Piggie books. The learning continues at the Science Bar and Creativity Café, where kids will dive into animal science and create Mo Willems-related arts and crafts. Sensory Friendly Session Sunday, March 7 Families with children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing disorders are encouraged to join the Museum’s 2021 Sensory Friendly Sessions! On select Sunday during Session A, kids can enjoy a playful, hands-on experience with a sensory modified setting, limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments to ensure safety and comfort. Stage programming will not be available during Sunday Sessions. Session A: 9:30 a.m.
