Design Our Signs 5.1.2021 - 5.31.2021 Exhibition 6th Street Studios & Art Center is soliciting submissions for its inaugural group show. We are beyond excited to be celebrating our newly renovated space located in the heart of Gilroy, Ca. The Art Center is looking for talented artists in the Bay Area to design our mural sign and our drop-down shingle sign. Five designs will be selected for each category and displayed in the window gallery for the month of May where the community will vote for the design they like the best. The results of the community vote will determine the winners who will receive the commissions. Looking for artists within 100 miles of the art center. Goals Ideal sign: -6th Street Studios & Art Center should be easy to read/identify -Include regional aspects including garlic flower used in logo, or applicable local demographic aesthetics -Include color, not only Black & White -Tie into the aesthetic of the building (light blue, modern style building built in the 40’s) -Signed by the artist Instructions Design submissions can be done in any medium (digital or otherwise,) but if selected the finalists must submit artworks to the display specifications below. Be sure that the submitted designs are applicable for the actual dimensions of the signs, designs that cannot be translated to the actual dimensions will be disqualified. Please include dimensions in your submission, and final medium if design is submitted in digital format. Shingle Designs should be completed in the actual dimensions of the sign, and be wired to hang. Mural design should be done on a 10"x45" layout, wired to hang. (no sawtooth or ring hangers, WIRES ONLY) Materials will be provided, as needed, for finalists to pick up. 24” x 24” or 24” x 36” Drop-down Shingle Sign 40” x 180" Mural Sign Design Submission Procedure E-mail a SINGLE PDF to (please visit website for email) with 5 images, artist statement and CV. (These documents should include your full name, contact information including your shipping address.) Entry Fees $25 per submission (1 Design) $40 to submit for both proposals, $10 for each additional design. Paypal is .
