Try contacting Jefferson County Child Care Association (JCCCA) referral providers in the area for licensed providers with openings. They normally call members once a month and have an updated list of openings according to age and days. Check back about every 6-8 weeks for updates if you haven't found anything yet. Referral providers give out names and numbers of members who have openings. It is up to the family to contact and interview providers to find the best fit for their family. All licensed facilities are listed. When looking for child care, it’s important to make sure the program is licensed. Licensing has several factors built in to help protect children. A licensed program will have its license easily displayed for others to see which will include the total number of children and ages a program is licensed for. Please be sure to look for this when interviewing programs. There IS a difference between licensed, legally exempt, and unlicensed (illegal) child care. Legally exempt providers are not allowed to have more than 4 children at a time (including their own children) and cannot have more than 2 children under 2 years of age. This is per property, not per adult caring for children. This is the law and includes nannies. A CHILD CARE LICENSE FROM THE STATE OF COLORADO IS LEGALLY REQUIRED OF ANYONE PROVIDING CHILD CARE FOR MORE THAN 4 CHILDREN; THIS NUMBER INCLUDES A PERSON'S OWN CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE ON THE PROPERTY DURING CARE HOURS.
