Description
Farm Description:
We are a diverse, organic vegetable operation selling to downtown Columbus restaurants and through a CSA. With eight years of growing experience (four years at this location) we bring a professional approach to our production systems. We use appropriate technology, small machinery and tools well suited to our size and systems.
We are looking to fill two positions this year:
The Assistant Farm Manager will help develop and implement planning for the growing season. They will also manage crew members during production and harvest tasks. Experience in organic farming is desirable.
The Production Assistant will be an integral part of all farm tasks, including: seeding, greenhouse care, transplanting, cultivation, harvesting, and post-harvest washing and packing. No experience necessary.
Ideal applicants are motivated, responsible, and possess a commitment to working hard AND smart.
Requirements:
- Must have reliable access to transportation to and from the farm.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and hear constructive criticism until task is performed in the proper manner.
- Must be adaptable. While we always strive to have clear systems and standard operating procedures in place, the ever changing conditions on a farm (weather, pests, changing whims of buyers) means that we must be able to change our approach as needed to optimize productivity and output.
Time Commitment:
- We work Monday through Friday.
- 8am-5pm, with a 45 minute lunch break
