Looking for a deckhand for the 2021 Bristol Bay sockeye salmon season this summer. Commercial fishing on a 32 foot gill netting vessel out of the Egegik district in Bristol Bay Alaska. The season is from the beginning of June to the end of July. Looking for someone with some kind of commercial fishing back ground and/or some boat knowledge is a plus. Looking to find someone who meets a few requirements. Someone from Bellingham who can pay for their air fare (about $1,200). Please do not contact me if you don’t have funds for air-fair. Fly out around June1st out of Bellingham airport. Looking for a motivated worker that’s young, strong healthy and who won't get seasick. Physical and mental stamina is a must. Bad weather is often the conditions we work in. Safety is our main concern. You need to be capable of giving 100% and staying alert at all times. Especially when fatigue sets in. During the peak we will often be working at a fast pace for long hours with little sleep. We need someone who will be committed, will put out until the last day and maintain a good positive attitude. You need to be able to follow directions and work well with the crew as a “team player.” A basic understanding of tools and how to use them will be useful for getting the boat ready and for anything else that may need to be worked on or fixed during the season. No history of anger issues and drug/alcohol abuse. Background check and drug testing may be required.
