For Your Joy MMP’s 1st Palm Sunday Luncheon In light of the holiday season, we wanted to extend an invitation for you to celebrate a little differently this year. So many of us, believers have celebrated Christ all year yet , to a degree, gotten somewhat distracted with the world’s view during Easter time. It’s too many instances to count of how often people have approached our children during this time of year asking, “Are you taken pictures with the Easter bunny?” or “What was in your Easter basket?” Never asking whether they know Christ who died for their sins. Now let us clarify that we are not angry at the Easter bunny. We have never even focused on him so our children wouldn’t ruin the experience of others. We did point our attention towards Christ, the cruxifition and resurrection. They eventually got the hint. Honestly, we’re just tired of the sense of entitlement all this attention has caused in children young and old. There is an expectation to receive a basket or candy every year instead of a desire to embrace and share the Gospel. We want to teach our children to sew into others what gift it is to know the only one who laid His life on the line for our sins. That is the best gift anyone can give. If Solomon and King Tut can be kings at a young age, we can instill Evangelism equally in young believers. Are we optimistic? Yes, but so is our Savior! Jesus said, “Suffer the little children come unto Him and “We have not because we ask not.” I’m asking the Lord to do something drastic in our lives. Radical in our children’s lives. He’s given us the authority to do it so why not? Why not instill appreciation for the gift of salvation He brings? Why not take pictures representing the Lord and Savior who sacrificed tremendously on our behalf? We may not be able to change everyone in the world’s perspective but we hope to influence some of our neighbors. So here’s an invitation to the start our goal to take Easter season back from the world’s view; to put Christ back in Resurrection Sunday and let the world celebrate the Easter bunny and his egg collection. Once again, we don’t hate the Easter bunny and love having fun with my kids as much as the next person which is precisely what we plan to do! We just love Jesus more and we’re sure you do too.
