BECOME A VOLUNTEER FIELD OMBUDSMAN AND HELP REDUCE ISOLATION
The San Francisco Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is recruiting volunteers to visit and provide support to seniors living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Due to the pandemic, nursing home residents have become increasingly isolated due to quarantining and the restrictions around visitation. Now more than ever these residents need our advocacy. Be the eyes, ears and voice for residents who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic. They need your support! This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of isolated and vulnerable seniors.
WHAT IS A FIELD OMBUDSMAN?
Field Ombudsmen are trained professionals who visit individuals living in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living and board and care homes. Field Ombudsmen help to resolve resident problems as well as investigate allegations of abuse and neglect. It is the only long-term care advocacy program in San Francisco.
The Mission of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program:

Note: In-person visits with residents are a core part of Ombudsman program outreach and advocacy, however, due to the pandemic, we have created a hybrid model for facility visitation. Some in-person visits with PPE combined with virtual visits via Facetime/Zoom.
