General Cleaner/Fill-in Cleaner
Jobs
20900 Swenson Drive Suite 250, Brookfield WI
Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The fill-in cleaner position is responsible for covering open cleaning runs that Rembrandt may have on a given night. Potential tasks a fill-in may be assigned include: • Covering a regular run due to scheduled vacations or other employees calling in sick, etc.. • Covering a run where there is a vacancy at a particular account that has not yet been filled • Complete any extra work at accounts as assigned by managers • Work on initial cleanings for new account starts • Do miscellaneous project work as assigned by managers. Fill-in cleaners are expected to be available to be at an assigned account by 5:00pm if called for, and to be available to work from 5:00 – 10:00pm each evening. This does not mean that a fill-in will always be asked to work 5 hours every evening – it will depend on what the need is for that evening. The possibility does also exist that there may not be work for a fill-in cleaner on nights there are no open runs or project work, though this will be minimized as much as possible. It is estimated that a fill-in cleaner can expect somewhere from 15-25 hours per week on average, but will vary. On occasion, a fill-in cleaner may be required to work out of their home area, and will be compensated fairly for the extra travel time and mileage. SUPERVISED BY: All managers and the Operations Manager SUPERVISES: No-one DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: RESPONSIBILITIES Call in to the office every afternoon between 3:30-4:30pm for work assignments for that evening. You will be given an assignment and directions for what needs to be accomplished. Work assignments will be distributed by Managers and monitored by the Operations Manager to ensure they are evenly distributed. Inform the manager assigning your evening’s task(s) if you are unsure of any information – such as directions to get there, how to get in building, where to meet, what duties to complete, etc… Managers are responsible for giving fill-in cleaners all pertinent information, but fill-ins must meet them half way and let them know if they are unclear on any particular item(s). Report to building supervisor when you arrive at the account you are filling in at, IF that building has a building supervisor. Clean assigned accounts effectively and completely. • Unless otherwise instructed, do a complete clean of every run you are assigned, following the daily routine/schedule for that run/account. • If instructed otherwise by the assigning manager, clean according to the manager’s instructions. Attend to minor cleaning problems at assigned accounts. • In addition to what the regular cleaning run entails, as fill-in cleaner, you should also attend to any minor cleaning problems you encounter (for example, cob-webs, missed wall spots, etc.. – anything that looks like it has been missed and needs to be taken care of to make the run/account look clean.) • Note: Responsibilities ranked at 1-3 are considered to be essential job functions, meaning the job was designed to do and accomplish that task. Responsibilities ranked at 4-5 are considered to be marginal job functions, meaning if the position did not do that task, the job itself would not be materially altered. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fill-in, or floater cleaners, must be able to complete any or all of the possible job duties/responsibilities listed on the General Cleaner job description, as the entire purpose of maintaining a crew of Fill-in Cleaners is to be able to send any of them to do any general cleaner job that may be vacant on a given day/evening. To not be able to complete any task of any given cleaning run defeats the purpose of having Floaters available to cover such vacancies as they arise. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must have a reliable vehicle to get around to various accounts. 2. Must be able to call in to the office each work day between 3:30 – 4:30pm to pick up assignments. 3. Must be able to start as early as 5:00pm and be available for work between 5:00-10:00pm. 4. Must have insurance on your vehicle and be able to produce proof of insurance if you wish to be reimbursed for your mileage. PAY SYSTEM • Fill-ins will be paid for the actual time spent at an account (not the assigned hours of the account). • A fill-in person’s pay will start when they arrive at the first account and will continue through the last account. If a fill-in is working at more than one account, he/she will be paid for the travel time between accounts. If working at more than one account in an evening – the procedure is to wait until you arrive at the 2nd account before you clock out of the 1st account. Then, immediately clock-in again for the 2nd account. • Mileage Reimbursement Procedure: o All fill-in/trainers are eligible for mileage reimbursement if they have current car insurance. Mileage will be paid for miles placed between home or day job and return to home, minus 10 miles per day. If the fill-in/trainer lives an unusually far distance from the office/territory, more than 10 miles per day may be deducted. o Before being paid for mileage, we must have a photo copy of a current Wisconsin Driver’s License and Wisconsin Auto Liability Card on file at our office. They must also sign our Driving and Use of Vehicles form. o Mileage may be tracked on the Rembrandt mileage form, and submitted by the end of each pay period. The first pay period of the month always ends on the 15th – so if you turn it in within the next day or so after the 15th, the mileage reimbursement can be paid at the same time as your paycheck for that period. Mileage can be dropped off in the office, or faxed in at : (262) 798-1149 to Attn: Operations. Mileage turned in after 60 days will not be reimbursed. o Employees eligible for mileage reimbursement who leave our employment within the first two weeks of starting will not be eligible for payment of mileage reimbursement. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, etc., associated with cleaning activities. • Ability to climb stairs regularly required – for cleaning of stairwells, and/or any accounts that do not have elevators (where also may have to be able to carry equipment up and down stairs.)
