Description
Let me say, that I am not a Veterinarian, just an animal-lover.
Having dealt with dogs and cats all of my life, I have learned a lot from them and about them.
Dogs, for example: This animal carries the brunt of it's weight on it's fore-paws. Therefore, when you ask it to "shake", (which has no meaning to the dog/or cat), you are asking it to carry it's weight on one paw, shifting stress onto it's spine.
For what, really? If he puts his head in your hand or snuggles up to you, you have proof of real trust/love. It is not natural for a dog or cat to have it's paw squashed by a human. LOVE your' pet without having to have it make senseless acrobatics.
One more thing: Did you know, that a dog or cat cannot clean it's fur under it's chin? You may have seen the animal rub it's chin on the carpet or grass. Some animals get a rash, where food/dirt causes an irritation. It is easily prevented by taking a damp wash-cloth, wiping around the animals nuzzle, chin and neck.
Thank you.
