Description
EAST HAVEN, CT —Over the next several months, East Haven Counseling Services will cease to provide mental and behavioral health services for the town with BHcare of Branford taking over.
BHcare is designated by the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services as the local mental health authority for Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Madison, North Branford and North Haven.
A certified community behavioral health clinic, it's been working with the town for "many years to care for adults and children who are struggling with behavioral health disorders," a news release from Mayor Joseph A Carfora reads, adding that, "Thanks to that partnership, the transition to BHcare's clinic in Branford will be seamless."
Existing clients who choose to remain with BHcare will be transferred automatically. For those who wish to choose to transfer to a different provider, ECCS will help facilitate that process, the release reads, noting that most ECCS clients who go to BHcare will "likely be able to continue working with the clinician they've been seeing."
BHcare has a more than 40-year history of providing comprehensive outpatient services and supports for adults and children who are struggling with mental health, substance use and behavioral issues, the news release reads.
"We look forward to welcoming East Haven counseling clients in our Branford location, and to our continued partnership with the town to ensure better health and wellness for our communities," BHcare president Roberta Cook said.
Carfora said: "We are pleased to continue our partnership with BHcare to provide these necessary services to the residents who utilize this program."
